2024 has been a milestone year, marked by landing a residency and enough events to create a full calendar post on Instagram. As they push forward, DJ Very Something’s next goal is to have an entire month booked with at least one gig per week. Looking ahead to 2025, they're aiming to land a gig abroad, expanding their reach even further.

Music has always been a big part of my life. It all began with the musicals my family would play at home, filling our weekends with songs throughout the house. From there, I dove into classic rock, knowing so many of the classics by heart, and later became an emo queen during my college years—headphones on, music always playing. After graduating and traveling for work, I discovered electronic music for the first time in my 20s, getting into artists like Pretty Lights, STS9, and Griz.

Everything changed when I met my former partner, a dedicated house head and DJ. He introduced me to house music, and soon enough, I was fully immersed. Our after-hours parties were legendary, with 48+ hour sets fueled by music, friends, and a bit of chaos. But it wasn’t until the pandemic that I got curious enough to press play myself. Practicing outside of work quickly turned into a full-time passion after I was laid off in 2021. I started on my partner’s CDJ 900s and DJM 800 mixer, which spoiled me for a beginner. After we split, I was devastated to be without equipment, but I soon found a DDJ 200 controller and later a DDJ 400, teaching myself day by day.

In 2023, with a bonus from work, I invested in an XDJ XZ—my precious. Since then, I’ve live-streamed on several platforms, landed my first gig from a social media post, and the gigs have kept coming. I’m excited for what the future holds, and honestly, I can’t imagine ever stopping.
